The dates for half-term break for second term have been changed by the Ministry of Education.

Initially, the learners were to break for second term half-term break from June 20 to 23.

In a circular dated May 24 to all County Directors of Education, the half-term dates have been moved to June 26.

“Following the disruptions of the opening dates, it has been decided that half-term dates fir term two be revised,” the circular read in part.

The learners will break for mid-term from June 26  till June 28.

The ministry said all learners in boarding schools will be expected to report back on June 30, 2024.

The ministry noted that the changes may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules.

Schools were previously scheduled to open on April 29, but the Ministry of Education postponed the same due to floods.

Eventually, most schools reopened from May 13 which was two weeks late.

On whether the second term dates would be extended to recover the lost time, Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu on May 9 said second term would be extended for an unspecified period.
