The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of Uhuru Highway at the section between University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts on the Mombasa-bound carriageway on Tuesday, March 4.

In a notice, the road will be closed from 9:00 am to 10:30 am to allow for a procession to commemorate World Engineering Day.

KeNHA advised motorists to exit the highway at their Boulevard Hotel onto Harry Thuku Road, Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the highway at Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.

Further, motorists can ply the University Way roundabout onto Nyerere Road, Processional Way and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin at Kenyatta Avenue Roundabout.

“KeNHA advises motorists to approach the section with caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site,” the notice read in part.

Further, KeNHA also cautioned motorists that the Juja-Gatundu Road would be temporarily closed from Juja Stage Junction to Gatundu during the weekend to allow for the installation of the cross culvert.

The road will be opened on Monday, March 3, at 8:00 pm. KeNHA noted that motorists plying the route would be diverted at Equity Afia Medical Centre (Juja) Road to join the Juja-Gatundu Road and Mucatha Road through Jomo Kenyatta University Way roundabout to join Thika Superhighway.

All motorists were advised to cooperate with the police to ensure smooth traffic flow.
