The Speaker of the Nairobi City County Assembly Ken Ng’ondi on Friday, 30th May, 2025 hosted President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his Mother’s home in Kagan village of Homabay county ahead of the Madaraka day celebration.

Speaker Ng’ondi praised the President’s Nyanza development tour noting that the President has exhibited his Goodwill in spreading development to all regions of the country and this tour that comes ahead of the Madaraka day celebrations set to held at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homabay underscores this commitment.

In the surprise visit where Speaker Ng’ondi welcomed the President alongside Odinga, the leaders were accompanied by several members of the Nairobi County Assembly.

“I feel so honored and blessed that President William Ruto and Prime Minister Raila Odinga took time off their busy schedule to visit my mother’s home in Kagan village. I am very previleged that I hosted them together with members of the Nairobi County Assembly,” Speaker Ng’ondi said.

“As Homabay county hosts the national celebration on Madaraka day , as the speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly wishes all Nairobi residents and Kenyans in general a happy holiday to be proud of this country. The development agenda by the President moved from Nairobi where just last week he opened the Mukuru affordable housing project to Nyanza where the President and Raila have commissioned numerous development projects ahead of Madaraka day. This is the Kenya that we all deserve where every part of the country is not left behind in development,”Speaker Ng’ondi added.

The Nairobi Speaker called on Kenyans to support the Broad Based government by President Ruto and Odinga saying that the country needs political stability to propel development and growth of all sectors.

In the Friday visit to Speaker Ng’ondi’s home village, the President and the Prime Minister had a chance to exchange pleasantries with the Speakers mother and family members as well as several people from the neighborhood as Ng’ondi termed the visit a dream come true for him in his political career.

“I am indeed happy that out of the busy schedule, the President found time to pay us a visit at my mother’s house and to me this is a dream come true. I feel so honored and I also thank the people of Nairobi who have given me the opportunity to work for them as Speaker of the Assembly. This would not have been made possible were it not for the great people of Nairobi and I also thank the Nairobi MCAs who accompanied us to visit my mother,’ Ng’ondi said.

Ahead of Madaraka day tomorrow, Ng’ondi called on Kenyans of all walks to join in the national celebration across the country.
