Most parts of the country will be generally dry this week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.

The Department, however, said that rainfall is expected over a few areas in the highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley.

Kenya said that there will be high average daytime (maximum) temperatures of more than 300C in some parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

There will be average night-time (minimum) temperatures low (less than 100C) over some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley and the Central Rift Valley.

Kenyans have been told to expect intermittent cold and cloudy conditions over some parts of the highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the southeastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.

According to Kenya Met, strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) are expected over some parts of the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley (Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West-Pokot Counties) will have sunny intervals in the morning though a few areas may receive light rains.

Afternoon and night showers and thunderstorms are expected over a few places occasionally spreading to several places.

In North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), residents should expect sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

However, Met said that areas bordering Uganda/South Sudan are likely to experience morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers.

The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including  Nairobi County) (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and  Nairobi Counties) mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

According to the Department, residents are to expect occasional afternoon and night showers over few places.

North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties) will have sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

In the southeastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties) mornings are likely to be cloudy, with light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals.

Kenya Mety added that there will be light afternoon showers over few places during the first half of theforecast period.

However, nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

Kenya Met said that the Coast (Mombasa, Tana-River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties) will expect sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.

However, there is a possibility of occasional morning showers occurring over a few places
