The Green Congress of Kenya (GCK) has been established as an all inclusive political party that is anchored on the guiding principles of fair and all inclusive participatory democracy, ecological wisdom and social justice.
GCK Party Leader Hilary Alila has given a commitment to the country that under the GCK umbrella, Kenyans have a political home which values democratic processes and thrives in the promotion of environmental sustainability and social justice by advocating for non-violence sustainability and respect for diversity.
According to Alila, who contested for the Homabay Senatorial seat in the February 2015 by-elections-and habors further political ambitions, the party undertakes to respect, uphold and defend the Constitution of Kenya and any other written law relating to elections and political parties election and nomination rules to ensure that candidates have a fair and plain playing ground at any contest.
The Green Congress of Kenya has been at the fore-front, as a party dedicated to fostering a sustainable, equitable, and democratic Kenyan society where nature and people thrive together.
Under Party Leader Hillary Alila, GCK emphasizes green politics, environmental conservation, and social justice, aiming to create a country, anchored on a sustainable environment whose key philosophy is a secure environment for all.
Grounded in a “Green Coalition” platform to counter systemic inequality and promoting a “Green Revolution” to manage resources responsibly, GCK focuses on conserving the land and water necessary for survival.
“Our kkey issues at GCK is to be advocates for renewable energy investment, reduction of fossil fuel reliance, and the creation of a sustainable economy that works for the common good rather than just the privileged few,” Alila says.
“Socially, we focus on promoting democratic participation, youth engagement, and equitable resource distribution. We endeavour to respect, uphold and promote human dignity, equity, social justice, inclusiveness and non-discrimination and protection of the marginalized, human rights and the rule of law, national patriotism and national unity, Democratic values and principles,” Alila adds.
Creating space for an inclusive participation of party members and accountable representation in governance for the sustainable development of the country as well as good governance, integrity, respect, tolerance, transparency and accountability have always been the resolve of the party leadership and members.
By this, the party aims to foster trust and confidence through mechanisms for co-operation, manage and mitigate political differences through constructive dialogue enhancing harmony among the parties; and promote national reconciliation and building national unity.
