The Green Congress of Kenya Party Leader Hillary Alila has today called on Kenyas to re-think on the best policies that can be used in the aggitation for better governance in Kenya,even as Kenya commemorates Saba Saba Day.
While admonishing the slow economic activities in majorly, Kenya’s capital Nairobi, on 7th July, 2026, which marks the 36th anniversary of the historical Saba Saba Day protests, Alila noted that a good leadership, which listens to its citizenry can be achieved through democratic processes and not by bringing businesses to a standstill as it has been witnessed in the recent years.
Instead of making the country un-governable, bringing daily economic enterprises to a grindimg halt and risking the posibility of destruction and loss of lives, Alila advocated for a mass registration of members into the GCK, a party anchored on good governance and therefore, the party standimg for the governance which the people of Kenya deserve and are yearning for.
“I call on Kenyans from every corner of this republic to register as members of GCK ahead of the March deadline so that we can all walk together in the journey of providing our beloved country a good governance which they deserve,” Alila said.
“At GCK, we believe that environmental friendly policies will be the ones to bring change in Kenya. With a good environment, we shall have a Kenya which is free from disease and our youths will have more opportunities for creation of employment. Let us therefore join GCK and walk together towards a better nation,” Alila added.
Alila said that the Green Congress of Kenya (GCK) stands for the aggitation to an end in human atrocities as well as employing environmentally friendly policies which in turn will create jobs and bring rise to a new crop of leadership which is achored on good govenance, making it a winning situation for the nation at large, who form the larger part of the aggitants of better governance of the country.
Alila, who is the leader of the visionary GCK, a party grounded of principles of good governance and empowerment through environmental friendly policies and practices rallied Kenyans that instead of rampant street protests,they should purpose to enlist as members of GCK noting that the party is a home to all Kenyans.
In Kenya, Saba Saba Day is remembered as the day on which nation-wide protests took place at Kamukunji grounds in Nairobi on 7 July 1990, Kenyans took to the streets to demand free elections. The politicians who had called for the protests, Kenneth Matiba and Charles Rubia, were arrested on 2nd July, days before the protest day.
In present day Kenya, Saba Saba has taken on a new meaning, with opposition leaders, human rights defenders (HRDs) and civil society organisations asking for respect of the constitution, an end to police brutality and killings, advocating for a favourable legal and policy environment in Kenya.
