Peaceful coexistence builds strength by turning diverse communities and challenges into shared resilience.
According to the words of former US President Jimmy Carter, Everyone has a right to peaceful coexistence, the basic personal freedoms, the alleviation of suffering, and the opportunity to lead a productive life.
As the Party Leader of the Green Congress of Kenya (GCK), a political party that is founded on the principles of good governance, shared responsibility and unity of purpose for all Kenyans, I am more than convinced that Kenyans of all walks of life should more than anything else, embrace a peaceful coexistence and live in harmony, despite our diversity.
This is my message of peace to all Kenyans. We are one nation, bound together by more than our differences — by our shared land, our shared future, and our shared humanity. Whatever divides us in politics, tribe, or opinion should never be greater than what unites us as a people.
Let us choose peace over provocation, dialogue over division, and unity over hate. Let us protect our communities, our children, and the progress we’ve worked so hard to build.
Kenya rises when we rise together — in calm, in respect, and in love for one another.
Peace be with our nation.
Like the great American literary critic, and author Eric Overby said, “We are going to be a community of diverse people who do not think the same or live the same lifestyle, but if we are going to live together peaceably, we need to find a better way to disagree.”
Nothing can be further from the truth. As political activity intensifies in the country ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Green Congress of Kenya calls on all Kenyans to remain calm, peaceful, and focused on the issues that matter.
Let our politics be about ideas, not incitement. Let us debate policy — jobs, healthcare, education, the environment, cost of living — not provoke one another along political or personal lines.
As Kenyans, for over six decades of our independence, we have proudly stood tall as a regional becon of hope, peace and stability. Our peaceful coexistence has been looked up by our neighours with awe; we are the big brother. We must therefore live with ourselves, besides heated political competition, beyond tribe, social status of political affiliation.
As we gear up for the political season, let us not be blinded or carried away by the One Term or Two Term politics of the day. Indeed it is the right of every Kenyan to belong and to have an opinion, however, it behooves of all of us to remember that we have a country we call home.
I urge my fellow countrymen and women to engage in issues, not insults. To reject any calls to violence, regardless of who makes them. Protect your neighbors, your businesses, and your community. Exercise your right to political expression peacefully.
Kenya’s future will be built by citizens who choose dialogue over division.
Peaceful coexistence is the ability of diverse people to live together harmoniously while respecting each other’s differences.
Why do I say that peaceful coexistence is our strength? It is a sure way in society that above the rise of political heat and competition, that reduces prejudice, lowers community tensions, and builds united, supportive societies.
In times of a biting economic hardship, it attracts investment, allows trade to thrive, and helps communities focus on shared prosperity instead of rebuilding from conflict.
Conflicts are resolved better where coexistence is anchired on peace. It encourages dialogue, negotiation, and diplomacy over violence or hostility.
The United Nations promotes these global values through initiatives like the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence to encourage international solidarity and tolerance.
Let us therefore rise above tribe, above parties, regions and embrace one another as one nation united in peace.
