Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has announced that he will be challenging President William Ruto for the second time at the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, during a live interview at K24 TV, Wajackoyah declared that he will not back down from his ambitions in the presidential bid.

“Nimekuja hapa ku announce hapa officially again this year that I am on the ballot in 2027, na sitabanduka am running again,” he announced.

Wajackoyah joins other candidates that have so far declared their interests in the 2027 presidential race, with the latest being former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Nelson Havi.

Others who have drawn attention on social media are Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

Wiper Democratic Movement Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) party leader Eugene Wamalwa, Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and political activist-cum-government accountability advocate Morara have also declared their interests in the 2027 presidency.

Wajackoyah vied for the presidential seat in the 2022 general elections and emerged as third.
