Nairobi City County Chief Officer in charge of Environment Geoffrey Mosiria has slammed Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino following a spat of words in which Babu accused Mosiria of leading an extortion chain from entertainment spots playing loud music in Nairobi.
Mosiria in his response to Babu Owino sought to set the record straight noting that the legislator was just out to malign him and yet he is known to be the lead extortionist in Nairobi where Babu has been in all bad books in Nairobi night life crimes.
Appearing in a popular podcast, the Embakasi East MP claimed that Mosiria has formulated a way to extort club owners by putting people of the ground who scout at any night club playing music for their revelers before pouncing on them to make arrests and thereafter demand hefty bribes from the owners of the establishment. Babu claimed that Mosiria leads the extortion ring at the orders of top county government leadership.
In his response, Mosiria said that in fact, Babu Owino should be commending the Nairobi environment department seeing that even at his own residence, noise pollution at night has been reduced courtesy of the efforts of Mosiria and his team.
The chief officer explained that his efforts are well coordinated to ensure there is fairness to all stakeholders ensuring that residents adjacent to night clubs have a peaceful, noise free environment whilst the clubs also are allowed to play their music which then should be in accordance with the law, not exceeding 35 decibels.
“I want to make this clear. I don’t do any extortion and when we raib a club for noise pollution, it is informed by the many complaints we receive from the neighborhood. If Babu wants he can come to my office and I will show him the loads of files we have filled with written complaints from residents who are disturbed by clubs playing loud music late at night inside their residential neighborhoods,” Mosiria said in his response posted on his Tiktok account.
“We know Babu is the chief extortionist in Nairobi and we shall soon be exposing him so that Nairobi people can know the type of man the MP is but by labeling Mosiria an extortionist is unwarranted and malicious since he knows well that the county by laws and National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) has the acceptance levels of noise which once exceeded, the lod music becomes noise pollution and is an offense punishable by law,” Mosiria added.
Further, Mosiria clarified that during his stint as chief officer in charge of health facilities,he worked diligently, with the support of Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to make systems work and the firm foundation he set at the department has continued to ensure that health facilities in Nairobi offer top class medical services to patients.
Babu had claimed that Mosiria owns chemists around Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital where  medical supplies meant for the public hospital are offloaded leaving the hospital with no drugs and patients are forced to buy drugs from the private dispensing chemists.
Mosiria explained that medical supplies during his tenure were taken to hospitals in the presence of community health promoters and the local administration officers led by the area chief challenging anyone with an iota of evidence of any medicine that was diverted to private facilities during his stint as health facilities chief officer to record with the relevant authorities for prosecution.
Mosiria has been in the lead in ensuring that Nairobi becomes an orderly city by providing an environment conducive to all residents and has vowed to continue until the glory of the Kenyan Capital is restored.
Babu Owino has in the past taken a swipe at Mosiria, his former campus mate as he seems to undermine the work done by the county in what many people see as an early political battle he is trying to stage as he eyes at a possible contest with Governor Sakaja in the  Nairobi governorship.
