The highly anticipated Kilele Summit 2025 went down in Nairobi from February 18th to 22nd, continuing its mission of bridging music, technology and innovation.

Among the standout performances at this year’s summit was Kenyan-born, Australia-based artist Elsy Wameyo, who graced the Kilele Showcase stage, supported by The Australian High Commission in Kenya.

Known for her genre-defying blend of soul-infused hip-hop and alt-R&B, Elsy has gained international recognition with her critically acclaimed debut EP, ‘Nilotic’ (2022) and debut album made in Kenya, ‘Saint Sinner’ (2024). With her latest album, Wameyo takes listeners on a journey of fearless self-expression, as showcased in singles like “Umva” and “Conquer”.

Elsy’s performance at Kilele marks a homecoming moment, kicking off an exciting 2025 before she embarks on Mission Export 254—her upcoming Australian tour. Accompanied by her Kenyan band, she will perform at some of Australia’s biggest festivals, including WOMADelaide, Port Fairy Folk Festival and Brunswick Music Festival. Having shared stages with global icons such as Burna Boy, Tierra Whack, Sampa The Great and Aminé, Elsy continues to break barriers and solidify her place on the world stage.

The Australian High Commission in Kenya remains a key supporter of Kilele Summit’s FEMX program, an initiative that uplifts femme-led projects and shines a spotlight on non-male artists in the music industry. The program highlights the growing creative exchange between Kenya and Australia, a collaboration that fosters global opportunities for artists like Elsy Wameyo.

As she prepares to take her sound from Nairobi to Australia, Elsy Wameyo embodies the spirit of cultural exchange and artistic innovation that Kilele Summit stands for.

Elsy Wameyo’s 2025 Tour Dates:

March 7 – Brunswick Music Festival, Australia
March 8 – Port Fairy Folk Festival, Australia
March 9 – WOMADelaide (Taste the World), Australia
March 10 – WOMADelaide (Performance), Australia
March 12 – Phoenix Central Park, Australia
