Renowned Nairobi politician and Embakasi East parliamentary aspirant Francis Muriithi has torn out area Member of Parliament Babu Owino over past heinous acts of political intolerance in Embakasi calling for the police to expedite investigation on the MP.

Speaking at a press conference, Muriithi, who contested the Embakasi East parliamentary seat on a Jubilee party ticket at the last election in 2022, narrowly loosing to ODM’s Babu, said that the MP should be investigated over the mysterious disappearance of Embakasi East Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Returning Officer Daniel Musyoka as well as many other cases of deaths and political violence in the constituency.

“Musyoka was not even going home during the tallying of votes but then he disappeared. The MP Babu Owino together with the Embakasi East Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) and the OCS should be held accountable,”Muriithi said.

Muriithi recounted that since 2016 and the 2017 elections, there has been politically motivated mudders and forced disappearances in Embakasi East at the guidance of Babu Owino including that of a man named Mukabana, a former ODM parliamentary aspirant who was killed in 2017.

“I was running for Parliament on a Jubilee party ticket in 2017 and in the ODM nominations, a former aspirant called Mukabana, who was facing off with Babu for the ODM ticket was killed at Mihang’o. His case died off and his killers have never been brought to book to date. I am speaking of crimes committed since 2016 to date,” Muriithi added.

“Another aspirant, Obiende who was in ANC party never even took part in the 2017 elections. He was poisoned and later attacked at Soweto. He got paralyzed. The culture of violence and political intolerance in Embakasi East began in 2017, and today, there are very many innocent youths rotting in remand and jails over murder charges while the real culprit should be Babu Owino,” he emphasized.

The firebrand politician called on investigative authorities to leave no stone unturned and investigate the MP, the OCPD and Embakasi OCS over the murders and heinous act of violence.
