Tuesday, 15 July 2025 | Nairobi, Kenya, Absa Bank Kenya has today officially opened its newest branch in Kawangware, Nairobi, marking another significant step in its ongoing strategy to expand its physical footprint and bring financial services closer to customers in the city’s fast-growing satellite towns.

Located at Kawangware’s Soko Safi Mall, the 87th Absa branch sits at the heart of one of Nairobi’s most vibrant and enterprising communities. It offers individuals, businesses, and the wider community convenient, accessible, and tailored banking solutions. The branch features a full-service banking hall, a 24/7 ATM and cash deposit machine, and is complemented by a strong agency banking network, and mobile banking to reach customers where they live and work.

Speaking during the launch, Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director & CEO, Abdi Mohamed, said the move underscores the Bank’s commitment to deepening financial inclusion in key growth corridors and supporting Kenyans in their personal and business journeys.

“Kawangware is a strategic gateway into Nairobi home to hardworking individuals, small businesses, and families who embody the spirit of enterprise. This branch represents our promise to walk with this community, offering not just banking services, but the knowledge, and partnerships that help people thrive,” he said.

As part of the launch, the Bank also flagged off a caravan, an initiative aimed at empowering enterprises and individuals in Kawangware and surrounding areas, including Dagoretti, Kikuyu, and others, with financial knowledge, relevant solutions, and tools that meet their current needs. This forms part of a nationwide drive by Absa to engage Kenyans directly and support their business and personal aspirations.

Speaking at the event, Absa Kenya’s Consumer Banking Director, Moses Muthui, highlighted how the bank is bringing these solutions closer to customers in markets, shops, and schools and making banking more accessible and impactful where it matters most.

“This is our way of taking banking closer to our customers and supporting them to make smart financial choices. Whether it’s opening the right business or personal account, using our Visa cards, arranging insurance, saving as a chama through Uwezo, or financing their needs. This presence reflects the belief that every Kenyan deserves the right solutions and a partner who truly understands their journey. We are proud to be part of Kawangware’s story,” he concluded.

Absa Bank continues to invest in its physical and digital infrastructure, aligning its growth to meet the evolving needs of individuals, MSMEs, and communities. Recent expansions in Nairobi’s satellite towns and other regional centers reflect the Bank’s ongoing purpose of empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time.
