In a defiant stance against alleged attempts by the President William Ruto-led Kenya Kwanza administration to sow discord, the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition declares its resilience and commitment to unity. During a summit meeting in Nairobi on Tuesday, leaders aligned with the Raila Odinga-led faction emphasized their determination to shield the coalition from external interference, ensuring its ability to advocate for the interests of the Kenyan people.

Unity Triumphs Over Discord Attempts: Azimio Leaders Stand Firm

Azimio la Umoja leaders, led by DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa, announced the coalition’s success in withstanding vigorous attempts by the Ruto administration to create disunity. They emphasized that unity is a cherished achievement, vital for the coalition to continue its united front in advocating for the welfare of Kenyans.

“The coalition has weathered several vigorous attempts by the Ruto administration to create disunity and splits in its ranks. Unity is an achievement the coalition will guard jealously to be able to continue fighting for Kenyans as one united front,” said the Azimio politicians in a joint statement.

Addressing Concerns: Azimio Pledges to Advocate for Kenyan Interests

Expressing dissatisfaction with various issues in Kenya’s current state of affairs, Azimio affirmed its commitment to addressing these concerns throughout the year. The coalition leaders, while noting their dedication to pursuing litigation as one avenue, declared the exploration of additional methods to compel the government to heed the people’s cries.

“The Summit has committed to seek other ways to press the government to listen to the cries of the people. The litigation will only be one avenue,” Wamalwa noted. “Other ways are being worked on whose ultimate aim is to force the regime to be sensitive to the tribulations of the people or to enable the people to take such steps as they may deem necessary for the people to rid themselves of this yoke and this regime.”

Revitalizing Unity: Azimio Pledges to Strengthen Constituent Parties

Reaffirming their dedication to revitalizing and reinforcing all constituent parties, Azimio leaders highlighted their commitment to a common program of action. The coalition remains steadfast in its mission, emphasizing shared values such as accountability, integrity in government, public participation, good governance, respect for the constitution and rule of law, social justice, and non-discrimination.

“Azimio remains one and is here to stay; committed to shared values that include accountability and integrity in government, public participation, good governance, respect for constitution and rule of law, social justice, and non-discrimination,” asserted the coalition.

Prominent leaders attending the summit included Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, Mwangi wa Iria, Wycliffe Opranya, Peter Munya, Jeremiah Kioni, Nderitu Muriithi, George Wajackoya, and Opiyo Wandayi. Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka was reportedly absent, engaged in other commitments in Sudan.
