Moses Kuria Peace Cup to be Launched in Meru

The inaugural Moses Kuria Peace football tournament will be officially launched on March 9th, 2024, at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County.

The tournament which is being played in the Mount Kenya region is sponsored by the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria and will feature teams from 66 constituencies drawn from 11 counties.

During the launch Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua aka Riggy G will grace the occasion as the chief guest with Governors, Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of County Assembly (MCAs) expected to attend.

The winning team will bag Ksh5 million after winning the finals which will be staged on June 2nd, 2024 at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

The last Group Matches will be played on April 13th, then proceed to the round of 16 on April 27th, 2024.

The quarter finals will be staged on May 4th-5th, 2024, then the semis between May 18th and 25th.

The third place play offs will be played to mark Madaraka Day celebrations before the finals being played on June 2nd, 2024.

“I thank the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria for giving football  priority. I know he has many other options of funding other sports disciplines like volleyball, netball, athletics and basketball among others but opted for football. We shall not disappoint him when staging the tournament,” said the tournament’s coordinator and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) National Executive Committee (NEC) Central region representative Davis Chege aka Shey.

Meanwhile, the tournament’s preliminary round three matches were played over the weekend.

Manyatta were held to a barren draw by Runyenjes at Moi Stadium as Kuresoi South beat Subukia 3-1 at Ole Nguruone sports ground.

At Gatunyu grounds, Gatundu North fought to a 1-1 draw against Gatanga as Njoro thrashed Rongai at Mercy Njeri Primary School.

Makadara MP Aspirant Edwin Kuria launches Nairobi Mega Pool tournament Makadara Constituency incoming Member of Parliament Edwin Kuria has today, Saturday 9 May, 2026, launched Nairobi’s mega Pool Table Tournament, slated for May 24th, 2026 with a promise to deliver an ecentric pool table tournament where a lucky, talented youth will win a brand new Motor Cycle. Speaking today in Viwandani Ward of Makadara Sub County, Kuria activated the youth to brace themselves for an electrifying competition in the tournament meant to empower the youth. Kuria noted that the ground has changed, and so have the people, making a shift upon which, today’s generation is no longer waiting on promises but they are stepping forward to claim opportunity through action, talent, and unity. “Leadership today must create platforms that empower, engage, and uplift the community in real and visible ways,” Kuria said. The tournament will be held at STAR OF HOPE, starting from 10:00 AM, bringing together players and fans for a day of skill, connection, and opportunity. Participants will compete for exciting rewards, with the GRAND PRIZE BEING A MOTORBIKE, alongside other cash prizes of KSH 40,000, KSH 20,000, and KSH 10,000. This mega tournament will be played across five zones where the winner in every zone will pocket Ksh. 5000 and a chance to move into the next stage for an opportunity to win a Motor Cycle. The runners up in every zone will walk away with a Ksh. 3000 while number three wins Ksh. 2000. In that spirit, Kuria has taken it upon himself to bring the community together through the VIWANDANI POOL TOURNAMENT, set for 24TH MAY 2026. Kiria intones that this is not just competition, it is a statement of inclusion, youth empowerment, and practical engagement at the grassroots level. Kuria encouraged all interested participants to register with thekir local cordinators and be part of this transformative experience. “This is what meaningful leadership looks like—creating real opportunities where talent is recognized and rewarded. It is about moving beyond words and ensuring that progress can be seen and felt within the community,” Kuria said. Kuria, who is running for the position of Makadara Membernof Parliament has been active in empowering the residents of Makadara constituency using sports as a way of empowerment.
