Kenyans have been urged to prepare for sunny and dry conditions across most parts of the country over the next week.

A forecast issued by the Kenya Meteorological Department for the period between March 19th -25th, 2024 indicates that most parts of the country are likely to be sunny and dry with average maximum daytime temperatures of over 30 °C.

These include Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Isiolo, Garissa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Taita Taveta, Kajiado, Makueni, Kitui, Nairobi, Laikipia, Baringo, West Pokot, Bungoma, Kakamega, Busia, Vihiga and Narok counties.

Some parts of these northern and north-eastern Kenya counties are even expected to see average maximum temperatures of over 35°C during the day.

In the central highland regions of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Murang’a, and Kirinyaga, low night-time temperatures below 10°C are expected.

“However, expect rainfall in the Central Highlands, South-western Kenya, South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast,” the Met Department said.

Some parts of Murang’a, Machakos, Kitui, Kilifi and Lamu are among the places expected to receive rainfall.

Kenya is gearing up for the log-rains season which usually begins mid-March and goes on until May.
