Five counties will be affected power outage on Saturday, June 29, 2024, this is according to an announcement by the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC).

In a notice, the utility firm said the planned interruption will happen between 8 am to 5 pm.

The counties to be affected are Nairobi, Kiambu, Uasin Gishu, Transzoia and Busia.

The planned outage is done periodically to facilitate system maintenance.

Below are the areas to be affected;

Nairobi

Babadogo area (9 am-5 pm)

The areas to be affected include Roy Transporters, Kenafric Confectionary Factory, Kenafric Sweet Factory, LG Harries, Unicorn, Babadogo Sec, Trade Setters Industries, Babadogo Business Park, Kenafric Business Park, Babadogo Laundry Village, Babadogo Mosque, Sai Raj, Riverside Estate, Kariadudu, Kariobangi Market, Gitathuru and adjacent customers.

Kiambu

Kikuyu town, Sigona (12 pm-4 pm)

Customers in Kidfarmaco, Gitaru, Regen, Magana Factories, Muthiga, Zambezi, KARI Complex, Muthure, Cura, Gikuni, Nyathuna, Ondiri, Karai, Lusigeti Mkt, Lusigeti, Nachu will be affected.

Uasin Gishu

Sinendet area (10 am-5 pm)

Sinendet Centre, Sakam Quarry, Lower Kipkaren Centre, Upper Kipkaren Area, Nyengeilel Sec Sch, Nyengeilel Centre, Murugusi Dispensary, Murugusi Pri, Murugusi Centre, Musembe Market, Chepsaita, Magut Centre, Ngayu Centre, Psorungai, Lumakanda Centre, Lumakanda Secondary School, Lumakanda Hospital and adjacent customers will be affected.

Transzoia

Kitale town, Marambachi area (9 am- 5 pm)

P.M. Wamuini Centre, St. Joseph’s Boys High School, St. Joseph’s Girls High School, Kitale Airport, Birunda, Makhele, Machewa, Koikoi, Lukhome, Nyasiland, Western Seed Company, Kakunga, Lukosi, Kiungani, Toll Market, Baraton, Sister Fridah Hospital, Kinyoro, Panacal International, Saboti, Muroki, Elgon Tea Factory will be affeted.

Other areas to be affected include Kapretwa, Mengo, Gitwamba, Olkadongo, Manor House College, Nakami Farm, Museum, Laini Moja, County Government Offices, Gatua, Kephis, Moi Avenue, Vision Gate, Transmatt, Nyayo Market, District Hospital, Milimani, Shimo la Tewa, Ambwere Plaza, Endebes Market, Suam Market, Centre Kwanza, Lessos Centre, Namanjalala Centre, Gumo’s Place, Gatua Centre, Annex Prison, Bidii Centre and Kitale Club.

Jovenah, Kitale KCC, Cheranganyi Hospital, Tum’s Factory, GSU Kolongolo, GSU Kirita, Mitume, Matisi, Tuwani, Liavo, Seed Drier, Lukhuna, Kitale Industry, Kiminini, Big Tree, Ndalu, Brigidia, Tongaren, Sikhendu, Kisawai, Saboti, Simatwet, Khetias, Amagoro, Mlango, Cheptumbelio and adjacent customers will also be affected.

Busia

Kona, Nambale area (9am-5pm)

Areas to be affected inlude Nasira, Kajoro, Kololo Farm, Nambale DC, Jua Kali, Frankmart Supermarket Nambale, Lugulu Malanga, Lwanyange, Mabunge, Ikondohera, Kisoko, Namahindi and adjacent customers.

Makadara MP Aspirant Edwin Kuria launches Nairobi Mega Pool tournament Makadara Constituency incoming Member of Parliament Edwin Kuria has today, Saturday 9 May, 2026, launched Nairobi’s mega Pool Table Tournament, slated for May 24th, 2026 with a promise to deliver an ecentric pool table tournament where a lucky, talented youth will win a brand new Motor Cycle. Speaking today in Viwandani Ward of Makadara Sub County, Kuria activated the youth to brace themselves for an electrifying competition in the tournament meant to empower the youth. Kuria noted that the ground has changed, and so have the people, making a shift upon which, today’s generation is no longer waiting on promises but they are stepping forward to claim opportunity through action, talent, and unity. “Leadership today must create platforms that empower, engage, and uplift the community in real and visible ways,” Kuria said. The tournament will be held at STAR OF HOPE, starting from 10:00 AM, bringing together players and fans for a day of skill, connection, and opportunity. Participants will compete for exciting rewards, with the GRAND PRIZE BEING A MOTORBIKE, alongside other cash prizes of KSH 40,000, KSH 20,000, and KSH 10,000. This mega tournament will be played across five zones where the winner in every zone will pocket Ksh. 5000 and a chance to move into the next stage for an opportunity to win a Motor Cycle. The runners up in every zone will walk away with a Ksh. 3000 while number three wins Ksh. 2000. In that spirit, Kuria has taken it upon himself to bring the community together through the VIWANDANI POOL TOURNAMENT, set for 24TH MAY 2026. Kiria intones that this is not just competition, it is a statement of inclusion, youth empowerment, and practical engagement at the grassroots level. Kuria encouraged all interested participants to register with thekir local cordinators and be part of this transformative experience. “This is what meaningful leadership looks like—creating real opportunities where talent is recognized and rewarded. It is about moving beyond words and ensuring that progress can be seen and felt within the community,” Kuria said. Kuria, who is running for the position of Makadara Membernof Parliament has been active in empowering the residents of Makadara constituency using sports as a way of empowerment.
