Kenya Cane, one of the country’s first and oldest spirit brand with a heritage spanning 47 years still holds its own in the fast-growing spirits category and continues to refresh Kenyans with its distinct smooth taste.

Popularly known as “KC”, the cane spirit made exclusively from sugarcane, is a staple for most mixologists and cocktail enthusiasts.

From the classic Mojito to a Long Island, Daiquiri, and the classic Pina colada, not forgetting our very own boozy dawa. This classic cane spirit is loved for its smooth blend and versatility.

Nairobi mixologist Chris Kantai, attributes Kenya Cane’s popularity to its heritage and mixability.

“People prefer KC because it’s made for Kenyans by Kenyans. “It’s cost-friendly, has a balanced taste with no aftertaste, and mixes well with bitters and shrubs for cocktails. ”

Kenya Cane is a staple in many bars and households, offering a smooth experience that perfectly complements a wide variety of cocktail ingredients. For those who enjoy experimenting with flavors, Kenya Cane presents options like KC Smooth, Citrus, Coconut and Pineapple, catering to diverse palates and preferences.

One of the classic cocktails that truly showcases Kenya Cane’s versatility is the Mojito. Here’s a simple recipe to create this refreshing drink:

Ingredients

– 50ml Kenya Cane

– 8 fresh mint leaves

– 2 teaspoons sugar

– 1/2 lime, cut into 4 wedges

– Soda water

– Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. In a sturdy glass, muddle the mint leaves and 1 lime wedge with the sugar to release the mint oils and lime juice.
  2. Add 2 more lime wedges and muddle again to extract more juice. Do not strain the mixture.
  3. Fill the glass almost to the top with ice. Pour the Kenya Cane over the ice.
  4. Add soda water to fill the glass and stir well.
  5. Garnish with the remaining lime wedge and a sprig of mint.

This classic KC Mojito is a testament to how well Kenya Cane blends with other ingredients, making it the perfect base for a wide array of cocktails.
