Members of Parliament have backed the planned anti-government protests scheduled for next week.
The lawmakers, led by Githunguri Member of Parliament (MP) Gathoni Wamuchomba, claim the government has yet to address critical issues raised by the youthful protesters.
The others were Babu Owino (Embakasi East), Amos Mwago (Starehe), and Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo.
The leaders say the government has not yet tackled the high cost of living, unemployment, or the need for streamlining the public service.
Posters circulating on social media indicate that Gen-Zs have called for another round of protests next week, which they say will push for the dissolution of Parliament.
“The issues raised by Gen Z have yet to be addressed. I pity those friends of ours who have joined the government. Wandayi hiyo kiatu umevaa imeandikwa Ruto nyuma itakufinya sana,” said Wamuchomba.
“We are going to join the next protests. The President is not in touch with what the people are asking him to do. We also want the courts to be very vigilant about the abuse of the police force against protesters,” MP Owino added.
MP Mwago stated; “The economy is not doing well, but the solutions we are being given are a change of an old cabinet and bringing in another one that looks the same.”
On her part, Omanyo noted: “We are telling Ruto that he must listen to the voice of the people. Even after the protests, what we have seen him do is work on Prado vehicles.”
