Tourists traveling across Africa this festive season are set to benefit from Safe Travels, a new emergency response plan by Rescue.co. Designed for both domestic and international travelers, the plan offers fast and reliable assistance, ensuring safety and peace of mind while exploring urban centers, safari parks, and remote regions.
Recognizing the unique risks faced by tourists and adventure seekers, the plan also covers high-risk activities in rugged environments. Travelers exploring Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, the Maasai Mara, or remote coastal areas are assured of quick support. With air evacuation resources located near popular high-risk destinations, Rescue.co is equipped to address emergencies like altitude sickness with unexpected injuries or illnesses.
“As travel picks up during this festive season, we’re excited to offer travelers the reassurance of Safe Travels, a service that extends beyond traditional emergency assistance.” Said Caitlin Dolkart, Rescue’s co-CEO “Our goal is to empower travelers to explore Africa with confidence, knowing they have immediate access to lifesaving help anywhere on the continent.”
Designed with the traveler in mind, Safe Travels provides a wide array of emergency services. These include ground and air evacuations, with a fleet of 67 fixed-wing and 7 rotary aircraft offering medevac services, achieving a 100% success rate and sub-one-hour response times for wilderness rescues. Additionally, roadside assistance and security, with coverage options such as towing, fuel delivery, and vehicle support across Kenya and an average response time of just 25 minutes are available. Rescue.co also offers round-the-clock medical and security response teams to handle emergencies on the road or in high-risk situations.
“Many travelers assume their insurance covers emergency rescue operations. However, this is often not the case. In most situations, insurance coverage only begins once you’ve managed to get yourself to the hospital. For anybody who’s coming to Kenya or East Africa, whether for adventure, safari, or business—a Rescue.co cover is invaluable. That will give them and their families back home the peace of mind that if something goes wrong, Rescue.co can get them to a world class facility, within a very short period of time,” said  James Savage, Managing Director, Savage Wilderness.
For nations without a 911 or 999 public emergency response system,Rescue.co is  leveraging its advanced technology platform, Flare, connecting travelers with over 1,000 first responders. These include ambulances, air support, and roadside assistance providers, ensuring swift, appropriate responses to emergencies. Flare Technology also works with a self-built and tightly monitored hospital database, allowing them to get the member to the appropriate and best facility- staffed with the right equipment and doctors at that specific hour. Through the dispatch hub in Kenya, and a network of more than 800 ambulances and 70 aircraft, Safe Travels guarantees access to emergency help anywhere on the continent within minutes.
Flare’s smart dispatch system minimizes delays by prioritizing the closest provider. It uses real-time data to coordinate responders, ensuring precision and speed. From ambulance drivers to security teams, every response is tailored to the traveler’s location.
Rescue.co’s emergency operations are coordinated by a team of highly trained doctors, nurses, and paramedics, available around the clock. A specialist team, including a former US Army flight paramedic, provides 24/7 air support. The team offers tele-guidance, ground coordination, and emergency medical care to ensure the best outcomes.
With coverage options spanning across Africa (excluding Sudan and Somalia), Safe Travels offers flexible membership options that start at just $25 for Kenya,$50 for the EAC region and Africa wide cover of $125 for 30 days.
