Former Nairobi Governor Dr. Evans Kidero has mourned the death of fallen Kariobangi North ward Member of the Nairobi City County Assembly (MCA) the late Joel Munuve who passed on early Tuesday morning.

According to reports, the outspoken politician collapsed in his car on his way to the county assembly after attending to his official duties at his ward office in Nairobi. Munuve was rushed to AAR Hospital on Kiambu Road today morning where he was pronounced dead after a heart attack.
Dr. Kidero, who is the chairman of the Kenya National Trading Corporation mourned the late Munuve eulogizing him as a leader who served with rare conviction and an unyielding commitment to the public good—an advocate for equity, development, and the betterment of lives
In his message of condolences, Dr. Kidero said that Munuve’s voice in the Nairobi City County Assembly was resolute with a clear vision and his purpose unwavering. Kidero  noted that Munuve’s leadership was marked by a deep sense of duty and an earnest desire to uplift his community.
“I stand in solemn solidarity with the Family, friends and relatives, residents of Kariobangi North, the Nairobi County Assembly, and the people of Nairobi County in mourning the tragic and untimely passing of Hon. Joel Munuve, the distinguished Member of County Assembly for Kariobangi North. Munuve’s demise is not only a profound personal loss to his family and constituents, but also a moment of collective sorrow for the broader civic and leadership community. He served with rare conviction and an unyielding commitment to the public good—an advocate for equity, development, and the betterment of lives often overlooked,” Kidero said in his message of condolences.
“In the County Assembly, his voice was resolute, his vision clear, and his purpose unwavering. His leadership was marked by a deep sense of duty and an earnest desire to uplift his community. His absence leaves a void that will be acutely felt, not only in Kariobangi North, but across the corridors of governance in Nairobi,” Kidero added.
Dr. Kidero noted that as Kenyans and the people of Kariobangi North grieve the loss of Munuve, the country should recommit to the ideals he championed—justice, compassion, and inclusive progress.
“We extend our most sincere condolences to his family, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched. May they find solace in the enduring legacy of service and integrity he leaves behind. In honouring Hon. Munuve’s life, may we recommit ourselves to the ideals he championed—justice, compassion, and inclusive progress. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory remain a guiding light for those who continue in the noble calling of public service,” Dr. Kidero continued.
Many celebrated Munuve’s legacy as a fearless leader who championed accountability and community welfare. His tenure was marked by vocal participation in county matters and a staunch advocacy for the rights of the people he represented. Further details regarding funeral arrangements are expected to be released by the family and Nairobi County Assembly in due course.
The vocal MCA clinched the Kariobangi ward seat as an independent candidate during the 2022 general elections.
