Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has today, Sunday June 22, 2025 made a scathing attack on politicians who thrive in perpetual culture of violence distancing himself from such acts of political intolerance.

While addressing the recent allegations that have been flying in the air accusing him of sponsoring the goons who infiltrated the demonstrations that rocked Nairobi CBD last week, Sakaja came out clear that he has never and will never sponsor violence noting that he has over the years being an advocate for a clean brand of politics devoid of insults and violence.

In a statement that was streamed live on Governor Sakaja’s Facebook page, Sunday afternoon, Sakaja sought to address the recent spare of false allegations and insisted that the planners and sponsors of the hooliganism witnessed in the city are well known politicians who all along their political career, they thrive in instigating violence.

“I have never and will never sponsor violence. Let me address the recent false, malicious and politically instigated allegations. For the record, I have always advocated for “Siasa Safi” (clean politics) which advocates for human dignity, rule of law and the democratic rights of every Kenyan,” Sakaja said.

“The allegations are not only false but malicious and a desperate attempt by well known politicians whose political careers are marked by violence and intimidation. have always thrived in violence. I have never used violence against government and never will, my record speaks for itself,” he continued.

“They have gone to the extent of hiring goons to infiltrate protests and blame it on me to gain political mileage. They have cheapened the course of our young people,” Sakaja said.

The Governor called on Kenyans not to be hoodwinked by selfish politicians into moving away from serious national issues that demand for action. He condemned the recent chaos noting that the violence meted on protestors and other citizens in Nairobi was uncalled for.

“The violence on protestors, the shooting of the mask vendor Boniface Kariuki and others, the looting mugging and destruction of property is unjustified and denies justice even to those who are seeking justice in the protests. Shifting focus to unverified claims against me is not only dishonest but it also dishonors the victims,” Sakaja noted.

Sakaja firmly asserted that his administration will allow peaceful protests but called on Kenyans not to allow such protests to be infiltrated by criminal elements. The governor noted that he has spoken to the police to ensure that protesters are accorded security and that they protests peacefully and within the provisions of the law.
