Likuyani, Kakamega – August 2025: The people of Likuyani Constituency are poised to benefit from a major boost in public service delivery with the upcoming launch of the Likuyani Huduma Jitume Digital Centre, a facility designed to expand digital access and bring essential government services closer to citizens. The centre is expected to revolutionize how residents access services such as civil registration, national identity processing, business registration, and NHIF services, among others.

However, even as the new centre prepares to open its doors, significant progress has already been made in the area. The Kongoni Civil Registration Office, established just over a year ago, has quietly but effectively transformed civil documentation services in the constituency. According to official records, the office has served more than 5,000 residents in the past year alone — a remarkable achievement for a rural-based centre.

Innocent Mugabe, Member of Parliament for Likuyani, acknowledged the milestone while emphasizing the importance of expanding service accessibility through digital platforms.

“While the upcoming Likuyani Huduma Jitume Digital Centre will undoubtedly expand digital access and bring government services closer to the people, we must also acknowledge the vital work already being done by the Kongoni Civil Registration Office, which has successfully served over 5,000 residents in just one year,” said Hon. Mugabe.

He noted that the success of the Kongoni office highlights the growing demand for localized and efficient public services in rural areas. With the upcoming Huduma Jitume Centre, residents will not only access civil registration services but also benefit from ICT training, internet connectivity, and entrepreneurship opportunities aimed at empowering the youth.

The Likuyani Huduma Jitume Digital Centre is part of a national initiative spearheaded by the Government of Kenya in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and the Huduma Kenya Secretariat. It aims to bridge the digital divide, promote digital literacy, and bring public services to underserved regions.

Residents and local leaders alike have welcomed the initiative, expressing hope that the digital centre will ease the burden of traveling long distances to access government offices, especially for the elderly, women, and persons with disabilities.

As the constituency prepares for the official launch of the digital centre, MP Innocent Mugabe reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing access to essential services, digital inclusion, and empowerment for all.

“This is just the beginning. Our goal is to ensure that no one is left behind as we move toward a more connected, informed, and service-oriented society,” he added.
