Kenya is set to participate in the inaugural Africa Women’s Cup, styled after the Homeless World Cup, taking place in Arusha, Tanzania from June 29, 2024.
Hosted by the Future Stars Academy of Tanzania, the six-a-side tournament will feature teams from eight African nations vying for the championship.
Kenya will join the host nation Tanzania , alongside South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Malawi.
The project involves collaboration with established Homeless World Cup Member Countries in Africa, including Kenya’s Vijana Amani Pamoja, Tanzania’s Future Stars Academy, Zambia’s Bauleni United Sports Academy, and Zimbabwe’s Young Achievement Sports for Development.
The Homeless World Cup Foundation organizes an annual event, the Homeless World Cup tournament, which has the potential to change the lives of participants and influence attitudes towards this global issue.
According to the organisers, this initiative aims to promote social inclusion and community development through football, enhancing women’s participation in tournaments of this nature.
