Good News Mission (GNM) church marked its 30th African mission anniversary, commemorating the strides the religious organisation has taken since it set foot in the continent through Kenya.

The anniversary was graced by the GNM and International Youth Fellowship (IYF) founder, Reverend Dr. Ock Soo Park, the Chief Guest from the Republic of South Korea.

Rev. Dr. Park is known for spreading the message of the world of the heart through the knowledge of the bible targeting young people.

The vision of Rev. Park is to pass the message of forgiveness of sin through the death of Jesus at the cross to save mankind from the bondage of sin as it is in the scriptures.

While addressing a press conference on October 5th, 2024 held at Moi Sports Center Kasarani indoor arena in Nairobi, Rev. Park took a stock at the milestone the mission had taken since he set foot in Kenya in 1994.

“With 1,200 churches in 100 countries worldwide, we are writing a new history of the gospel in this era when the gospel is disappearing on the face of the earth. We are living in a period where the message of salvation has not been clear and many churches are struggling to guide their congregation to true salvation”, Reverend Ock Soo Park said.

Rev. Ock Soo Park is in the country for a three-day bible revival, where he will lead over 20,000 youths across the country in celebrating the mission’s works in Kenya and Africa as a whole by sharing the word of God that put much emphasis on the spiritual aspect of a person and the forgiveness of sin.

“Good News Mission is working to free people’s hearts from the heavy load of sins and lead them to the bright heart of Jesus and empower them with education and life skills through evangelism an agenda being pushed by the church whereas International Youth Fellowship uses its academy to empower the youth with education, life skills and global awareness for the future” ,Reverend Ock Soo Park said.

Under the International Youth Fellowship-IYF, the mission is actively using Mind Education which opens the doors to exchange, allowing youths to learn the bright and upright heart and cultivation of leaders for the next generation by producing intelligent and humble personalities in the society.

Another IYF Program is the IYF free Weekend Academy, which has been instrumental in providing skills to disadvantaged youths a majority being form 4 leavers who could not have a chance to further their education due to financial constraints.

The initiative which has adopted a three-month cohort structure, not only equips students with practical skills but also empowers them to contribute positively to their communities and the broader economy.

According to International Youth Fellowship (IYF) country chairman pastor Yohan Kim said: “We are offering 27 courses and intend to add more classes to effectively and efficiently accommodate learners in the academy.

“We are also considering adding more courses, in this weekend academy  programme and also opening more than 20 branches across Kenya to offer a chance of education countrywide starting from this upcoming  7th season enrolment of students,” Kim said.

The vision of Rev. Park is to pass the message of forgiveness of sin through the death of Jesus at the cross to save mankind from the bondage of sin as it is in the scriptures.
