The Green Congress of Kenya (GCK) Party Leader Hilary Alila has laid emphasis that regional zoning by political parties is unconsitutional and must not be used to lock out political competition in regions perceived to be traditional strongholds of political formations.

According to Alila, the idea of zoning of regions is not constitutional but a political expediency based on wishful thinking.

“As the Party Leader of the Green Congress of Kenya, our position is clear. There is no political party, coalition or individual has the constitutional authority to zone any region of this great country and deny its people the democratic right to choose their own leaders,”Alila said.

Alila emphasized that the constitution of Kenya is clear in granting every citizen the right to participate in free, fair, and competitive elections. He reminded Kenyans that this right cannot be negotiated away in boardrooms or sacrificed on the altar of political convenience.

“Zoning is nothing more than a political wish dressed up as policy. It is an attempt by a few powerful individuals to control the many. It is the old politics that has kept Kenya behind for decades,” Alila added.

Speaking against the backdrop of discussions raised by sections of the political class within the Broadbased Government, the GCK leader reiterated his firm stance for the democracy of the people who must always have the final say noting that every political party has the right to compete in every corner of Kenya and no region should be locked away from free political competition.

Alila said that the Green Congress of Kenya will not be party to arrangements that rob Kenyans of their democratic freedoms adding that GCK will field candidates and compete in the upcoming elections and the people will make their decision at the ballot.

The Green Congress of Kenya is a party that accomodates every Kenyan and not based on tribal or regional support base. Alila noted that GCK is a National Party rooted in democracy, built on the will of the people, and driven by one purpose.

He emphasized that GCK will sponsor candidates for elections in all parts of the country offering every Kenyan a home in the Green Congress.

“We embrace open competition because the best leaders are not handpicked, they are tested and proven. We believe leadership must be earned, not inherited or imposed. Kenya deserves leaders who are accountable, visionary, and chosen freely by the people. That is exactly what Green Congress stands for.” Alila concluded.
