Details have emerged pointing fingers at Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament

Anthony Kibagendi for his alleged role in last Sunday’s heckling of ODM Leader Raila Odinga at Gusii Stadium in Kisii.

Kibagendi, a first time MP elected on an ODM ticket was allegedly involved in hiring people, largely drawn from Kisii Polytechnic  to heckle Raila during the event that was organized by sports gaming firm Sportspesa to unveil the Shabana FC new Sportpesa branded jerseys.

Investigations have further revealed that  Kibagendi arranged, organised and mobilised for Odinga to be heckled in Kisii promising to pay the Kisii polytechnic students Ksh 3000 each for the job.

According to sources, most who are some of the disgruntled youths, the students were mobilsed from their institution to come and chant down Odinga and sere paid pat of the promised handouts. Some of them were given as low as Ksh 1000 and the balance was to be paid later, which Kibagendi has reportedly failed to honour.

The riotous youths are not the regular Shabana FC fans as  most of them have not been seen at any of Shabana matches but were there solely at the instructions of Kibagendi.

The Former Prime Minister and  encountered a hostile reception at Gusii Stadium where he had attended the unveiling of Shabana FC’s new kit by their sponsor.

The event, which was supposed to be a celebration, devolved into chaos when a section of the audience chanted “Ruto must go!” as Raila took the podium to address the audience. Videos showed scores of people leaving the stadium as the ODM leader made his speech  amid chants from the rowdy youths.

The event attended by several dignitaries including Kisii Governor Simba Arati, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Sportpesa CEO the Kasarani MP Ronald Karauri and ODM youth league member Kasmuel MCOure.

Governor Arati had a difficult time calming the crowd as he attempted to introduce the dignitaries present at the event, with the crowd turning restless when Raila’s name was mentioned.

In an unexpected turn of events, residents could also be seen walking out of the stadium in large numbers once Raila took to address those present, in what was an open show of disapproval.

Kibagendi’s alleged planning of the disruption has come under sharp criticism with leaders calling out the heinous acts from the MP while advocating for political tolerance.
