A section of senior officials of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) are on the spot following revelations that tickets for the Kenya-Gabon World Cup qualifier set to be played today have been hoarded and put on resale at exorbitant prices.

According to reports, the tickets, which were sold out by Saturday evening, ahead of the Sunday clash were largely bought by senior officials in the FKF national executive of the federation and cronies of the current FKF president Hussein Mohammed who have been reselling them at double or triple price to fans.

A senior staff at the federation has also been drawn into the circus notably spearheading an online campaign to insinuate that the match is totally sold out but then hoarding a ticket re-sale racket.

The FKF Staff who was allegedly sacked from a leading online betting firm for financial misappropriation and obtaining money on pretense is said to have assisted in engineering the racket and reaping big from the resale of national team tickets. The tickets are today going at Ksh. 1000 for regular stands as Kenyans overwhelmingly wish to get to the stadium and support the national team.

Of concern is that tickets were sold solely online by a firm associated with a prominent female sports journalist whose insiders opine that she had been promised the FKF position of CEO but was later given the ticketing tender. Officials at Kandanda House are said to have bought bulk tickets from the popular journalist and well-planned the re-sale of tickets.

The hoarding of tickets has led to escalating political rhetoric as it takes a political twist with reports claiming that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, through Francis Gaitho, has purchased thousands of tickets for youths to storm the stadium with anti-Ruto and anti-Raila banners during todays’s sold-out match!

Allegedly, the plan—funded by businessman Jimmy Wanjigi—aims to target Raila Odinga, a known football enthusiast, by sparking chaos with political chants and banners during the match.
