Two female lawmakers were caught fought outside the precincts of Parliament on Wednesday, April 8th, 2025.

The Members of Parliament (MPs) were caught on camera with clips showing Nominated MP Umi Harun and her East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) counterpart Falhada Iman wrestle each other to the ground as others try to separate them.

In the video captured by someone on Parliament grounds, the two lawmakers can also be heard having a verbal exchange.

Ms Harun later released a statement terming the incident unfortunate, saying she has made a formal complaint.

“Today, an unfortunate incident occurred on parliamentary grounds-a situation I deeply regret both as a Member of Parliament and as a mother. My colleague from the EALA parliament who has expressed longstanding differences with my work acted in a manner that I find unacceptable,” Ms Harun said.

She said she regretted the incident and will provide further details on the matter.
