President William Ruto has announced significant appointments to various state positions, highlighting his administration’s commitment to leveraging experienced professionals in key sectors.
Retired judge Jackton Boma Ojwang’ has been appointed chairman of the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) for a four-year term. Ojwang’, who previously served on the Supreme Court of Kenya, brings extensive legal expertise to the regulatory body overseeing the energy and petroleum sectors.
Benson Mutura Kang’ara, former Nairobi County Assembly Speaker, has been appointed to chair the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority Board for a three-year term. Mutura’s appointment is expected to bolster efforts in improving transportation infrastructure and management within the Nairobi metropolitan area.
In addition to these appointments, President Ruto has named Prof. Mohamed Said Rajab as the non-executive chairman of the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO. Prof. Rajab, a seasoned academic and former university chancellor, will serve a three-year term, guiding the commission’s efforts in promoting education, science, and culture in line with UNESCO’s objectives.
Dr. Ningala Kalachu has been appointed to chair the Veterinary Medicines Directorate Council, also for a three-year term. Dr. Kalachu’s role will be crucial in overseeing the regulation and quality control of veterinary medicines in Kenya, ensuring the health and safety of livestock and public health.
These appointments reflect President Ruto’s strategic placement of qualified individuals in pivotal roles to enhance governance and service delivery in key sectors of the economy.
