More than 2,700 residents in Nairobi County benefitted from a free medical camp hosted by the M-Pesa Foundation in partnership with Zuri Health and Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital at Kwa Ng’ethe Primary School in Githurai.

The camp is part of an immediate response plan to support Kenyans across the country. Some of the services offered at the camp included eye care consultations, breast and cervical cancer screening, fistula screening, general doctor consultations, diabetes screening, hypertension monitoring, and elderly and child health consultations.

“Safaricom, through our Foundations, is committed to transforming lives. Healthcare is one of the major needs of the community which has ensured we invest in medical camps to support communities in all 47 counties. We are also alive to the ongoing situation where some Kenyans need support. That is why we are currently standing with people at this time of need through several interventions, including this camp,” said Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom PLC.

Following the camp in Githurai, M-Pesa Foundation will hold a similar camp in Ongata Rongai on 12th July 2024, as it continues to support Kenyans during this period. Other response measures undertaken by M-Pesa and Safaricom Foundations include provision of aftercare for patients and infrastructure development support for hospitals.

Since April this year, M-Pesa Foundation has held four camps; in Siaya, Mathare, Machakos, and Bungoma, which have impacted more than 14,000 people.
