The 2023 Nairobi East region finalists Victors Faith from Kasarani Sub County saw their hopes for a better chance at the Sakaja Super Cup title go up in dust as they crashed out of competition following a dramatic five  goal pre- quarter final thriller played at Dandora Stadium on Friday 13, December, 2024.
In what was billed as an epic battle to represent Kasarani in the quarter finals of the second edition of the tournament, which is arguably the biggest in Nairobi, New Njiru got the better of the church side  claiming a 3-2 win over Victor’s Faith in their knock out encounter as Mowlem United clawed Panthers to advance into the quarter finals.
David Muasya broke the deadlock for  Victors Faith in the  35th minute before Victor Njiba of New Njiru canceled the lead scoring in the 40 th minute. Kevin Ouma put New Njiru in the lead with a 45th minute strike to take the Njiru side into the break with a 2-1 lead.
Boniface Kiplimo added a third goal for Njiru in the 57 th minute to give them a comfortable lead and Wishdom Wakoli’s effort with a 70th minute goal could not rescue the Victors Faith boat from sinking.
Mowlem United bundled out Panthers Fc after winning 3-0  in penalties following a one all draw. Steve Jacobs drew first blood with a 40 minute strike to send Mowlem United upfront before Panthers David Ojala pulled matters level in the 58th minute forcing the game to post match penalties.
As the Sakaja super cup ladies chapter gains momentum, Monday will be abuzz with action at various fields around Nairobi.
In the Nairobi West ladies regional quarter finals, set to be played at the Kenyatta National Hospital grounds, NYS Queens will play against South C Queens in the first 9:00 am kick off before Nairobi Starlets play Macmillan at 11:00am.
The creme- dela creme match of the day will pit  Slum Scorers  against last years runners up Kibagare Girls in an epic match set to be played at 1:00pm before TUK University takes on Madaraka Queens in the last match of the day starting at 3pm.
Ladies teams from Nairobi east and west sub counties have been lined to play against each in an elimination stage from where the regional competition will take center stage with the winners of Nairobi West region expected to play the winners from Nairobi East region for a chance to win the Ksh. 1 million women’s cash a prize award
In the men’s category, the winner of the grand finally will walk away with a cool KSh 3 million top prize with the runners up winning KSh 2 million as the bronze medal winner gets KSh 1 million cash prize.
Competition heads into the quarter finals from Friday December 13 as the grand finale set for December 20th at Dandora stadium draws closer.
