Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi was notably absent from the first cabinet meeting of the year, convened by President William Ruto at Kakamega State Lodge on Tuesday, January 21.
Questions have arisen as to whether Muturi was even invited to the cabinet meeting with a section of the media reporting that Muturi might not have been invited to the cabinet meeting, suggesting a possible tension or fallout within the government ranks.
Muturi’s absence from the meeting has stirred considerable debate online, especially in light of his recent accusations against the government.
Muturi accused President Ruto’s government, under which he is working, for abducting his son and failing to address the recent spate of abductions witnessed in the country.

When asked about his absence, Muturi did not provide a direct response but instead advised journalists to seek clarification from Secretary to the Cabinet Mercy Wanjau.
A group photo of President William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and the Cabinet secretaries showed everyone except Muturi.
Kenyans have taken to social media to speculate about Muturi’s whereabouts, with some questioning whether his allegations against the NIS are why he missed Ruto’s Cabinet meeting.
The President is currently in Kakamega County as part of a week-long development tour aimed at lauching local infrastructure and reviving the western Kenya sugar industry .
The meeting primarily focused on encouraging the Cabinet to leverage the broad-based government to drive transformative change in Kenya.
