President William Ruto has today, Wednesday 26, 2025, fired Justin Muturi from Cabinet. The former Attorney General was the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei where President Ruto

nominated Mbeere Member of Parliament Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku as Cabinet Secretary for Public Service replacing Muturi, just a day after the President termed an incompetent Attorney General

In other changes, newcomer Hannah Wendot Cheptumo has been nominated the cabinet secretary in the Ministry of Gender Culture the Arts and Heritage.

Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Baraza has been moved to the ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry and will swap ministries with Aden Duale who has been moved to the Ministry of Health.

For months now, Muturi has been at logger heads with his boss with his bone of contention being the remarks he made against the State over abductions and killings of Gen Z protesters in June and December 2024, where his son was also a victim.

Muturi had vowed not to attend cabinet meetings until the President agrees that cabinet meetings discuss the issues of police abductions and extrajudicial killings.

Recently, Muturi bravely said the move to call out his boss falls within his sworn mandate as a public servant, and he should instead be applauded for the same.

Ruto, on Tuesday openly branded his Muturi as “fairly incompetent”, referring to his stint as the country’s attorney general.
