Safaricom and Showmax Kenya are set to host the Second Edition of the Safaricom-Showmax Football tournament at Goal-Hub Turf in Kitengela.

32 teams including KBC, Royal Media Team, Cape media FC, Team bloggers and Media Max will be competing for the cash prizes.

The inaugural edition of the tournament held at Kahawa Wendani Turf saw Bard City FC emerge as champions.

We are partnering with showmax to bring the Football Challenge to our customers in the neighbourhoods. Through these 5-a-side tournaments, we are not just playing football and awarding the winning teams but also engaging with our customers through activities that matter to them” said Strategic Marketing Amplification Lead at Safaricom PLC.

The tournament will feature competitive matches, with the winning team taking home Ksh30,000 and the runners-up receiving Ksh20,000.

“The Safaricom-Showmax 5-a-Side tournament is designed to showcase local talents and make them shine as well. At showmax Kenya we are committed in growing football talent in Kenya and creating memorable experiences for football enthusiasts,” Said Elisha Kamau, Public Relations Manager.

This partnership shows Safaricom and Showmax’s shared commitment to nurturing local talent and enhancing community engagement and experiences through sports. To qualify for the 5-a -side tournament, participants must subscribe to the showmax EPL package at 450 per person. To subscribe dial *544*37#.

Safaricom and showmax have additionally curated an offering where all our customers and football enthusiasts can now stream all EPL matches on Showmax at a discounted rate of up to 10% on our GO Monthly Plan.

The tournament will be held at STAR OF HOPE, starting from 10:00 AM, bringing together players and fans for a day of skill, connection, and opportunity. Participants will compete for exciting rewards, with the GRAND PRIZE BEING A MOTORBIKE, alongside other cash prizes of KSH 40,000, KSH 20,000, and KSH 10,000. This mega tournament will be played across five zones where the winner in every zone will pocket Ksh. 5000 and a chance to move into the next stage for an opportunity to win a Motor Cycle. The runners up in every zone will walk away with a Ksh. 3000 while number three wins Ksh. 2000. In that spirit, Kuria has taken it upon himself to bring the community together through the VIWANDANI POOL TOURNAMENT, set for 24TH MAY 2026. Kiria intones that this is not just competition, it is a statement of inclusion, youth empowerment, and practical engagement at the grassroots level. Kuria encouraged all interested participants to register with thekir local cordinators and be part of this transformative experience. “This is what meaningful leadership looks like—creating real opportunities where talent is recognized and rewarded. It is about moving beyond words and ensuring that progress can be seen and felt within the community,” Kuria said. Kuria, who is running for the position of Makadara Membernof Parliament has been active in empowering the residents of Makadara constituency using sports as a way of empowerment.
