Learners at Timboiywo Primary School in Baringo Central Sub-county are set to benefit from new school infrastructure, after M-Pesa Foundation broke ground on a KES 40 million upgrade project..

The Foundation will oversee the renovation and construction of new classrooms for students in Grades 1-9 as well as an Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) block, which will accommodate the increasing student population. The school will also receive a new and equipped science laboratory, which will enable the learners to study their practical lessons comfortably.

“Education is one of the key pillars under the M-PESA Foundation, as it is an essential tool in the development of society. In line with our purpose of transforming lives, we are working with various partners, including county governments and the Ministry of Education, to achieve our goal of creating conducive learning environments,” said Joseph Ogutu, Safaricom Foundation Chairman.

In addition, the Foundation has funded the construction of new ablution blocks for both learners and staff, which will improve Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) outcomes in the school.

The Foundation has undertaken similar projects in the county, including the recent handover of renovated school infrastructure to Marram Primary School in January and a new, fully equipped resource learning centre to Claude Academy in December last year. Other projects include Kapropita Girls School, Sirwa Primary School and Mogotio Primary School.
