The Kenya Power Company  has announced that areas in 11 counties will face power disruption in the country on Thursday, May 8, 2025..

In a statement on Wednesday, it said that the power interruption will occur at diverse times between 8am and 5pm.

According to the utility firm, the power interruption helps to facilitate system maintenance.

Counties to be affected are Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Nandi, Homa Bay, Embu, Murang’a, Laikipia, Mombasa, Kiambu and Kwale.

Nairobi

Parts of Nairobi will face power cuts from 9am to 5pm.

They are Lower Kabete Road, KSG, UoN Lower Kabete, Mwimuto, NSSF, New Kitsuru East, Saunders Close, the whole of Kiambiu and adjacent customers.

Other areas are Wambugu Road, Wambugu Inn and adjacent customers.

Kenya Water Institute, Akiba East, Akiba Court 3, Five Star East, Tabsera Academy, Memon East, Halai East, Bellevue School, Ruby East, Midlands Court East, Bandari Villas, St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic, Masjid Bukhari Mosque, Soledo Springs East, Tepro Homes, Manifest Est, Sifa Springs East, Missionary School, Manifest Apartment and Nairobi Water will also face power cuts in Nairobi.

Kajiado

In Kajiado, areas including Kanisani Road, Kwekwe, Kahuho, Philothea, Kiserian Primary, Kiserian Town, Ndirangu Road, Olerai School, Naromoru, Gategi, Picnic Site, Brookhurst School, Kahuho, Emaasho, Sholinge, Farmers, NPC, Olorien, Birika, Ostrich Farm, Kipeto and Saithya will experience power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm.

Nakuru

Parts of Nakuru to face power interruption from 9 am to 5 pm are Majimoto Market, Ngoswani Market, Naikara Market, Oleshuta Market, Oloraimutia Market, Nkoilale Market, Sekenani Market, Hotels Along Sekenani Talek, Talek Market, Narosora Market, Morijo Market, Entasekera Market, Olmeshutie Market, Orolte Market and adjacent customers.

Nandi

Parts of Nandi to face power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm are Belekenya and adjacent customers.

Homa Bay

The areas will face power interruption from 9 am to 5 pm.

They include Ngeri, Nyagwedhe, Kikubi, Nyandiwa Magunga Market and  adjacent customers.

Embu

Parts of Embu scheduled for power interruption from 8 am to 5 pm are Nthagaiya Secondary School, Ngeniari Market, Macumo Secondary, St. Paul’s Gatinda Primary School, Kiringa Market and adjacent customers.

Murang’a

Parts of Murang’a will face power interruption from 9 am to 5 pm.

They include Ruchu Girls, Kabati, Gacharage, Gitaimbuka, Ruona, Rwathe, Kaguthi, Gathugu & adjacent customers.

Laikipia

Parts of Laikipia will experience power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm.

The areas are Ichunga, Equator Girls, Kiawa, Baraka, Runda, Njoguini, Sweetwaters Tented Camp, Comfort Garden, Njoguini Primary School and Sweetwaters Girls.

Kiambu

Areas in Kiambu to face power interruption from 9 am to 5pm are Kilimambogo Millers, Behind TIBS area, White sisters, Parts of Ngoingwa classic, Family gardens, PCEA, Kisiwa, Mpesa Foundation, Karibaribi, Maryhill, Kawira, Makwa Boys, Makwa Dispensary, Makwa Market, Magumu, Gakui Shopping Center and adjacent customers.

Mombasa

Parts of Mombasa will face power cuts from 9 am to 5 pm.

The areas are Fidel Odinga Road, Shell Nyali, Exhibition Road, Moyne Drive, Part of Jomo Kenyatta Road, Arti Villa Road East, Jamhuri Road, Part of Mama Ngina Road, Greenwood Drive/Lane, Light Academy, Parklane, Koroga, Neem Road, Oleander Drive, Coral Drive, Chandarana S/Market, Oleander Drive, Nyali Beach Resort, Nyali Barracks, Chiromo Hospital, Voyager, Mt. Kenya Road, Bahari Hotel, Mombasa Beach Hotel and Reef Hotel.

Kwale

Areas in Kwale will face power cuts from 9 am to 3 pm.

They are Carrefour S/Market, Swahili Beach Resort, Kaskazi Resort, Diani S/Center, Trade winds, Diani Sea Resort, Chandarana S/Market, Diani Marine and adjacent customers.

Kuria, who is running for the position of Makadara Membernof Parliament has been active in empowering the residents of Makadara constituency using sports as a way of empowerment.
