Legendary Kenyan Afropop and rap artists Calvo Mistari and Naiboi are back with their brand-new single and video collaboration, “Zama” – released under their new publishing outfit Room 308.

Zama is their third single off their upcoming album ‘308’. It follows the success of their recent collabs:“Rudisha” and “All My Dreams“.

“Zama” beautifully captures the feeling of falling in love and the sense of security it brings, blending live guitar instrumentals by Benjamin Kabaseke to create a gentle, heartfelt sound. This track marks a new chapter for Calvo Mistari and Naiboi, showcasing a fresh era of musical expression.

Produced by Dillie, this Afropop ballad showcases the best of both artists—Calvo Mistari delivers captivating verses about being love-struck, while Naiboi elevates the track with his charming chorus, featuring the sultry vocals of Amileena Mwenesi. Its music video of “Zama” was shot by VJ One on location in Dallas and Houston, Texas.

In a joint statement, the duo shared, “Zama was just us vibing about the feeling of being in love. That first spark when you realize you’re starting to fall for someone, it’s such a beautiful moment,” adding, “This is our first joint single in a while, and it reflects the global sounds we’ve been exploring, especially with Afrobeats influences.”

The collaboration has reignited their creative spark as they begin a new chapter in their musical journey, influenced by their relocation to the US and the blend of music industries they are experiencing. After a hiatus for studies and family commitments, both Calvo and Naiboi are back in action, answering the public’s call for new music.

Calvo Mistari, having completed his studies, is rebuilding his life and career, while Naiboi has been reflecting on his journey, saying he’s “rediscovering adulthood.” The duo first teamed up for their 2021 hit “Situation”, and over the past decade, they’ve become some of Kenya’s most influential music creators. As rappers, producers, songwriters and performers, they’ve played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s urban music scene.

Looking ahead, Calvo promises consistency: “We’re currently working on a series of EPs together, while also focusing on our individual projects.” Both artists are also developing their own solo EPs, set for release soon. They’ve already dropped solo tracks: Naiboi’s “Ananitaka” and Calvo Mistari’s “Olivia” – offering a glimpse into their evolving sounds and creative directions.
