James Kiprop Yagan, Assistant Country Commissioner for Embakasi North sub county has been faulted for engaging in the Kariobangi North politics despite being a public servant who is barred by the constitution from engaging in partisan politics.

A vast majority of resident are now up in arms and have vowed to acquire a permit to demonstrate against Kiprop who is a county commissioner in an area that s most affected by insecurity in Nairobi while the ACC does nothing to tackle the run away insecurity in his jurisdiction which included the dreaded backyards of Dandora and Kariobangi.

Kiprop is accused of campaigning for the UDA candidate in the upcoming Embakasi North ward by elections.

Reliable reports on the ground indicate that the Embakasi North deputy county commissioner and the Kariobangi North chief have been convening public meetings with residents from different ethnic groups in the name of routine security and empowerment meetings only to turn them into campaign platforms for Maina Njoka. This is in contravention of public service ethics where public servants are not allowed to conduct political meetings or activities.

Different opinion polls have continuously placed the ODM and DCP candidates ahead of the UDA Candidate who is now resorting to use state machinery to campaign for him and subvert the will of the people.

The people of Kariobangi North, particularly supporters of ODM DCP and other Independent candidates now say that the ACC is blatantly sabotaging the broad-based government by using his position in government to support the UDA candidate. They say this aggravation is as a reason of the death of former ODM leader former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and that now the UDA side of the government are no longer afraid to trash the agreement to work with ODM in broad based.

The residents drawn from different parties now say that government officials must refrain from political contest. Just last week, people were up in arms when the Kariobangi chief attempted to include Njoka in an event meant to distribute government relief food and the residents refused saying that was not inclined on any political sides.

“If the ACC and chiefs don’t stop doing UDA politics, even the broadbased government can end since now that Raila is dead, UDA is now treating ODM like a rival yet they want our support in Ruto’s Government. The Kiprop guy has a lot of spite for other tribes. He does nothing just speaking in his Kalenjin language at a government office and supporters of all other candidates are demanding for his removal because we don’t want favoritism,” said an irate resident of Kariobangi who did not want to be named for fear of his security.

“We the people of Kariobangi North ward who are supporting different candidates in ODM, DCP, Wiper, and other parties including the Independent candidates shall notify the police of our intended demonstration against the Embakasi North Assistant County Commissioner and the chief from Kariobangi North. Being a campaign period, if the deny us a permit , we shall storm their offices in campaign tshirts to demand for justice to prevail,” another supporter asserted.

They have sensed defeat and that is why they are using public administration officers to campaign for their candidate which is against the law and unacceptable.

ODM party has lined up major rallies this Saturday in Kariobangi North to drum up support for the party candidate in rallies where the ODM top brass led by party leader Oburu Odinga Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, deputy party leader Kisii Governor Simba Arati and ODM Nairobi chairman George Aladwa are planned to speak and condemn the ACC calling for his immediate removal. The protests will then be held on Monday next week.
