The Green Congress of Kenya (GCK) Party Leader Hillary Alila has made a clarion call for the public to register as members of the GCK party, on a day that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) released the full timetable for the 2027 General Elections.
Alila, who is the leader of the visionary GCK, a party grounded of principles of good governance and empowerment through environmental friendly policies and practices rallied Kenyans of all walks of life to enlist as members of GCK noting that the party is a home to all Kenyans.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission announced the official timelines for party primaries, candidate nominations and campaigns ahead of the 2027 General Election, with political parties now required to submit membership lists and primary schedules by March 16, 2027.
IEBC Commissioner Ann Nderitu who is the Chairperson of IEBC’s Election Operation Committee, said political parties participating in the General Election must display the names of candidates contesting their primaries before the March 16 deadline.
According to Alila, GCK is anchored on good governance and therefore, the party stands for the governance which the people of Kenya deserve and are yearning for.
“I call on Kenyans from every corner of this republic to register as members of GCK ahead of the March deadline so that we can all walk together in the journey of providing our beloved country a good governance which they deserve,” Alila said.
“At GCK, we believe that environmental friendly policies will be the ones to bring change in Kenya. With a good environment, we shall have a Kenya which is free from disease and our youths will have more opportunities for creation of employment. Let us therefore join GCK and walk together towards a better nation,” Alila added.
The nomination of both political party and independent candidates will be conducted between Saturday, May 29 and Friday, June 11, 2027.
“Nomination papers shall be delivered by the candidates to the Chairperson of IEBC between the hours of eight o’clock in the morning and one o’clock in the afternoon and between the hours of two o’clock and four o’clock in the afternoon at a place designated by the Commission,” Nderitu directed.
Nomination disputes must be lodged no later than Saturday, June 12, 2027, with IEBC required to resolve them within ten days of filing.
The official campaign period will open on Saturday, May 29, 2027 and legally terminate on Saturday, August 7, 2027, enforcing a mandatory 48-hour campaign blackout period ahead of polling day.
