Petra-Mwendwa extend winning streak as FKF rescheduled polls conclude

Candidates aligned to Team Blue in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) county level elections easily won in two of the three repeat elections help on Saturday 16the October.

Allies of Doris Petra and Nick Mwendwa won in two counties as Ismael Mohammed Issack carried the day as he was elected the FKF Mandera County chairman while William Lokwee triumphed in Turkana county as three counties went into a repeat of the election exercise following ties on election day last Thursday.

In Nyandarua county, former county chairperson Lucy Kageni’s ally emerged victorious in an election exercise that was engulfed with claims of bribery and voter intimidation.

Lucy Kageni who is the running mate of former FKF CEO Barry Otieno hails from Nyandarua where she is the immediate former Nyandarua FKF chairperson.

Claims have emerged that the election process in the county was marred by instances election malpractices including intimidation and bribery involving promises of bursary allocation in a heated race that saw the county Governor Kiarie Badilisha intervene to calm escalated tensions.

In the first vote, candidates allied to team blue and Lucy Kageni’s candidate had tied on votes forcing a repeat of the polls.

On the other hand, team blue, which has Petra and the national presidential candidate and Nick Mwendwa as running mate has 31 confirmed county chairmen in their fold as well as four others in the grey areas.

Kakamega Homeboyz chairman Cleophas Shimanyula has one vote in confirmed county bosses and projected to bag one more vote in the gray votes which is as well leaning towards team blue and could swing in either way.

Hussein Mohammed has command of 14 counties with four votes are gray areas all leaning towards team blue.

The voting in the three counties were redone as Turkana and Mandera counties did not have a poll for the position of chairman while in Nyandarua there was a poll following a tie in the chairman’s position.

Team blue has claimed a strong command in different regions. Petra and Mwendwa’s allies have won majority counties in the North Rift region and coastal region. In mount Kenya region, team blue captured Kirinyaga, Nyeri, Em u and Tharaka Nithi while five counties in Nyanza are also allied to the Mwendwa- Petra axis.

Makadara MP Aspirant Edwin Kuria launches Nairobi Mega Pool tournament Makadara Constituency incoming Member of Parliament Edwin Kuria has today, Saturday 9 May, 2026, launched Nairobi’s mega Pool Table Tournament, slated for May 24th, 2026 with a promise to deliver an ecentric pool table tournament where a lucky, talented youth will win a brand new Motor Cycle. Speaking today in Viwandani Ward of Makadara Sub County, Kuria activated the youth to brace themselves for an electrifying competition in the tournament meant to empower the youth. The tournament will be held at STAR OF HOPE, starting from 10:00 AM, bringing together players and fans for a day of skill, connection, and opportunity. Participants will compete for exciting rewards, with the GRAND PRIZE BEING A MOTORBIKE, alongside other cash prizes of KSH 40,000, KSH 20,000, and KSH 10,000. This mega tournament will be played across five zones where the winner in every zone will pocket Ksh. 5000 and a chance to move into the next stage for an opportunity to win a Motor Cycle. The runners up in every zone will walk away with a Ksh. 3000 while number three wins Ksh. 2000. In that spirit, Kuria has taken it upon himself to bring the community together through the VIWANDANI POOL TOURNAMENT, set for 24TH MAY 2026. Kiria intones that this is not just competition, it is a statement of inclusion, youth empowerment, and practical engagement at the grassroots level. Kuria encouraged all interested participants to register with thekir local cordinators and be part of this transformative experience. “This is what meaningful leadership looks like—creating real opportunities where talent is recognized and rewarded. It is about moving beyond words and ensuring that progress can be seen and felt within the community,” Kuria said. Kuria, who is running for the position of Makadara Membernof Parliament has been active in empowering the residents of Makadara constituency using sports as a way of empowerment.
