Several parts of the country are likely to receive rainfall this week, the weatherman has said.

The Kenya Meteorological Department in the weekly forecast released on Tuesday announced mixed conditions involving rainfall and high temperatures on various occasions across various areas of the country.

This is contained in the forecast covering the period from Monday, December 17, to December 23, 2024.

During this period, some parts of the country will receive rains while others will experience hot and generally very humid conditions during the daytime accompanied by relatively cool temperatures through to late hours of the night.

Rainfall will be most prominent in Western Kenya, the Central Highlands, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Central and South Rift Valley.

The mentioned areas will most likely experience scattered showers throughout the week; such weather might cause temporary disruptions, mainly in outdoor activities.

Other areas, such as the southeastern lowlands and the Coast, are also likely to experience rainfall, although at a less intensive level.

These areas should expect occasional showers, which could bring some relief to the generally warm conditions.

Although the rain will be cooling in some areas, the forecast shows daytime temperatures will still be hot.

The coastal, North-eastern, and North-western parts of Kenya will have daytime temperatures of above 30°C.

The combination of heat and humidity in these regions will make the weather feel even hotter.

People are advised to take precautions by staying hydrated and avoiding the scorching sun for too long.

For several parts of the country, the minimum temperatures at night are expected to go well below average.

For instance, parts of the country such as Western Kenya, Central Highlands, and parts of Central and North Rift Valley are expected to record minimum temperatures less than 10°C during this period.

These colder conditions will bring a great contrast from the daytime warmth, and persons residing within such areas should warm up well at night and early morning hours.

The Met department has advised the public to frequently check the current updates to best prepare for changing weather conditions.
