The husband of Kenya’s national women’s volleyball team captain Mercy Moim in a tragic road accident on Sunday, Marc 17th, 2024
The accident occurred along the Thika Super Highway in Nairobi, near the Mathari Hospital.
According to a police report seen by the Kenyaonlinews.com, the accident occurred at 13:30hrs Sunday, near the Mathari Hospital.
“The victim sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment. The body is awaiting postmortem,” the police report read in part.
Moim is at the moment in Ghana with Malkia Strikers for the All African Games but is expected to take a flight home in light of the developments.
“The federation is trying to get her a flight home, she should be here tonight or tomorrow[Tuesday),” the Kenya Volleyball Federation Organising Secretary Ismael Chege said in a phone interview.
Confirming the developments, Chege mourned the departed saying the federation will offer support to the decorated volleyball ace Moim during “this difficult time of grief”.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation is mourning the death of Joseph Asuza, husband of our Captain Moim…we request all the volleyballers wherever they are to support and keep Moim in prayers during this trying moment,” Chege said.
