The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has opened applications to public teacher training colleges (TTCs) as it continues to implement the phased placement process it adopted for various training institutions this year.

A total of 13,823 slots are available in the 36 public Teacher Training Colleges (TTCs) for the September 2025 intake into the Diploma in Primary and Secondary Teacher Education programmes. The application period will run until March 20.

Currently, there are three colleges offering Diploma in Secondary Teacher Education, with a capacity to admit 2,735 students while the remaining 33 are offering Diploma in Primary Teacher Education, with 11,088 vacancies up for grabs. The vacancies are available at Kagumo TTC, Kibabii TTC and Lugari TTC for Secondary Teacher Training Colleges.

Primary Teacher Training Colleges include Aberdare TTC, Asumbi TTC, Bishop Mahon TTC, Bondo TTC, Borabu TTC, Bunyore TTC, Chesta TTC and Egoji TTC.

Others are Eregi TTC, Galana TTC, Garissa TTC, Kaimosi TTC, Kamwenja TTC, Kenyenya TTC, Kericho TTC, Kigari TTC, Kilimambogo TTC, Kitui TTC, Kwale TTC, Machakos TTC and Mandera TTC.

Meru TTC, Migori TTC, Moi Baringo TTC, Mosoriot TTC, Murang’a TTC, Narok TTC, Seme TTC, Shanzu TTC, Tambach TTC, Tarbaj TTC, Thogoto TTC and Ugenya TTC will also absorb the primary teachers’ trainees.

Applicants seeking a chance in the primary TTCs must have at least a mean grade of C (plain) in KCSE or equivalent, while those seeking enrolment into Diploma in Secondary Education are required to have a minimum of C+ in KCSE or equivalent. Those with other qualifications different from KCSE should seek equation from Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) to enable them to apply.

“KUCCPS is encouraging interested and qualified Form Four leavers from the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) cohort and those the from previous years to apply for the slots,” KUCCPS CEO Agnes Mercy Wahome said in a statement released in Nairobi on Thursday.
Applicants are advised to be vigilant to avoid becoming victims of online fraudsters.

“Those who may require support are encouraged to visit KUCCPS offices at ACK Garden House on 1st Ngong Avenue, Community Area, Nairobi, any of the 58 Huduma Centres spread across the country or, any of the above-listed TTCs near them,” Dr Wahome added.

KUCCPS is a State Corporation in the Ministry of Education established under the Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 to co-ordinate the placement of Government-sponsored students to universities and colleges; disseminate information on available programmes.
