The National Executive Committee of the Football Kenya Federation held a meeting yesterday, Friday, August 9,2024, and passed several important resolutions affecting the running of the federation.

Key among the resolutions is the resolution to hold a Special General Assembly Meeting for the FKF which has been scheduled to be held Assembly on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Sports View Hotel, Nairobi.

The National Executive Committee has sent out the official SGM Convocation, as provided for by the FKF statutes. The NEC also released the Football Kenya Federation annual audited financial statements for the year 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2024.

In addition, the National Executive Committee issued the names of the proposed FKF electoral board members, FKF activity report and a proposed FKF electoral code (2019/2020) in accordance with the FKF Constitution.

Proposed members of the FKF Elections board include Advocate Hesbon Owila, Sports Journalists Association of Kenya chairman James Waindi, former AFC Leopards chairman Dan Mule, Alfred Nganga and Marceline Sande with Farida Lucia Juma and Robert Asembo as standby members.

In a letter sent to delegates at the national level and signed by FKF General Secretary/CEO Barry Otieno, the agenda for the meeting will include a declaration from the General Secretary that the SGM is properly constituted followed by an official roll call before the FKF  President delivers his speech.

Delegates invited to the meeting include all the 48 FKF Counties, 18 FKF Premier League clubs, 10 National Super League clubs and 10 National Division One clubs. Others are 3 WPL clubs, 2 Women Division One League Clubs and one representative each from the Players’, Coaches’ and Referees’ associations.

The special general meeting will be expected to appoint scrutinizers, consider the FKF activity report, approval of the annual audited financial statements; including the consolidated financial statements and the annual report and approval of the budget.

The NEC resolved that the Special General Meeting will ratify the FKF Electoral Board and Electoral Code. The FKF Special General meeting has been organized after the court of appeal, in June halted the earlier planned Annual General Meeting pending the determination of a constitutional case filed at the High Court.

The three judges returned the case to Lady Justice Olga Sewe who, in April this year, suspended the holding of FKF’s AGM. In the case before Mombasa Lady Justice Olga Sewe, journalist Milton Nyakundi Oriku is in a legal tussle with FKF.
