Kenya Police regained their lead on top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) bringing a 24 hour stay at the summit by 13 times champions Tusker FC.

The law enforcers returned to the top after a slim 1-0 victory over Mara Sugar at the Awendo Green Stadium on Sunday.

Police, who are now on an impressive run of 10 games without defeat, came into the game seeking to topple Tusker from the summit, and they duly delivered on the road.

Their lead at the top is helped by a healthy goal difference of 14, which is five more than Tusker, who share the same number of points in second place.

Mara’s loss to the policemen sees them slip to 11th place with 22 points.

On Saturday,  Janaury 25th, 2025, Tusker took over the league leadership after edging out four times champions Ulinzi Stars 1-0 at Dandora Stadium.

Chrispin Erambo nodded home from a corner by Dennis Wanjala in the 55th minute to guarantee the brewers three points and a spot at the top of the league which was short-lived after Police beat Mara Sugar the following day.

AFC Leopards’ inconsistent spell extended following a 1-1 draw against Murang’a Seal at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday 25 January.

Since interim coach Fred Ambani took over the side following the dismissal of Tomas Trucha at the start of December, Ingwe are yet to collect back-to-back victories.

Murang’a Seal are also enduring a rough patch of form as they are yet to pick up a win since the turn of the year.

Joe Waithira who has been AFC Leopards’ tormentor since his Mumbi Nationale days opened the scoring before Julius Masaba drew level for Ingwe before halftime.

Kakamega Homeboyz were left frustrated at the end of a barren draw against Gor Mahia after seeing their late goal controversially ruled out for offside.

Moses Shummah thought he had given his side a crucial winner late in the second half, only for his goal to be chalked off, linesman Stephen Yiembe lifting his flag for what appeared as an incorrect decision on replay.

Shummah, who had also gone close to breaking the deadlock in the first half, was captured on Azam TV‘s freeze-frames to have stayed onside – and behind Gor Mahia defender Kennedy Onyango when he got onto a Ben Stanley cross from the right.

Gor Mahia, who came into the game seeking to keep pace with the on-form duo of Tusker and Kenya Police, were meanwhile a shadow of themselves, rarely threatening goalkeeper Simon Masaka in the opposition box.

Homeboyz, with the point, moved up two places to ninth, while Gor Mahia rose to third place, but are now eight points off the top albeit with a game in hand.

Ezekiah Omuri was on target as Shabana secured their seventh win of the season, edging out Sofapaka 1-0 at Dandora Stadium on Sunday.

The youngster struck in the 26th minute to give the Glamour Boys their second win of 2025

Ezekiel Akwana’s men could not find a way to break Shabana’s defense, ultimately falling to their second consecutive defeat without scoring.

The result leaves Batoto Ba Mungu eighth on 24 points, and were overtaken by Ken Odhiambo’s Bandari, who got back to winning ways thanks to a 1-0 victory over visiting Nairobi City Stars at Mbaraki.

The lone goal came via Beja Nyamawi, who scored in the 15th minute to make it seven goals for him thus far this season.

The win was Bandari’s first since the two teams met in the first leg fixture in November, and brings to an end a run of seven games without victory.

City Stars, under new coach Salim Babu, meanwhile extended their winless run to six games, and only goal difference separates them from an automatic relegation place.

Posta Rangers climbed off the basement of the log following the 2-1 win over FC Talanta in an FKF Premier League clash to move to 17th position.

Jacob Onyango scored a late goal for Bidco United as they secured a 1-1 draw against hosts Kariobangi Sharks at Dandora Stadium.

The result was however not enough for Bidco to move from the bottom, with this their sixth game without a victory.

Sharks, on the other hand, are down to 13th with 20 points.
