Nairobi, Kenya… The inaugural Professional Golfers of Kenya Equator Tour event concluded spectacularly at Ruiru Sports Club, with Daniel Nduva representing Team Visa emerging as the champion after a fiercely contested 72-hole tournament.

The event, held from July 3rd to 6th, 2025, brought together Kenya’s top professional golfers and rising stars for four days of world-class competition.

The tournament was played over 72 holes, with a cut after the first 36 holes narrowing the field to 20 professionals and one standout amateur, junior Manji Juniad from Sigona Golf Club.

The final two days saw a gripping battle between Daniel Nduva, Njoroge Kibugu, and David Wakhu, each displaying remarkable skill and composure under pressure.

Junior sensation Manji Juniad impressed the field by finishing 9th overall with a score of -4, a remarkable achievement for the young amateur.

The Ruiru Sports Club event marks a significant milestone in the development of professional golf in Kenya. The 2025 Equator Tour, featuring 11 events across premier venues and culminating in a grand finale at Muthaiga Golf Club in February 2026, provides a robust platform for local players to: Earn vital ranking points and qualification slots for the Kenya Open 2026, pursue their dreams of representing Kenya at the 2028 Olympics, gain invaluable experience and exposure on a national stage.

In the Corporate league, Team Visa set the early pace with Nduva’s win and Mike Kisia’s top ten finish earning them valuable points among the Kenyan blue chip- companies that are partners of the PGK.

The Professional Golfers of Kenya (PGK) extends heartfelt appreciation to the sponsors whose unwavering support has made this tour possible: NCBA, Visa, Safaricom, Britam

Kenya Airways, & EABL

On behalf of the sponsors, Safaricom Golf Captain Lead Eric Mugo commented on the performance of their corporate team, which includes Mutahi Kibugu, Mohit Mediratta, Mathew Wahome, and Samuel Chege Njoroge:

“Our players didn’t struggle a bit. With only one of our players, Samuel Chege Njoroge, making it to the final cut. Needless to say, we are fully and a hundred percent behind our four team members. Getting ready for the next leg in Limuru Country Club on 24th – 27th July 2025.”

The Chairman PGK C. J. Wangai also noted; “I am incredibly proud of the level of play and professionalism our golfers have demonstrated at the inaugural Equator Tour event. Their performances this week have set a new benchmark for Kenyan golf and give me great confidence in their ability to excel, not just in the upcoming legs of the tour, but also on the international stage. We are witnessing the rise of a new generation of champions, and I am confident that our players will continue to make Kenya proud as the tour progresses.”

The success of the inaugural event at Ruiru Sports Club sets an exciting tone for the rest of the Equator Tour. As the series moves to its next venues, anticipation is high for more thrilling golf action, the emergence of new talent, and the continued strengthening of Kenya’s position on the global golfing map.
