Tickets for Kenya’s final African Nations Championships (CHAN) group stage match against Zambia scheduled for Sunday, August 17th, 2025 have been sold out, just hours after being on sale.

The match day tickets for the Group A clash at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, were put on sale in the early hours of Tuesday morning, only to be snapped up within the next four hours.

Keen eyes tracking the sale on Mookh Africa’s website, the company tasked with selling CHAN match tickets in Kenya, observed that tickets—ordinary and silver—were made available for purchase at 0100 hours on Tuesday and sold out by 0630 hours.

Ordinary tickets retailing at Ksh200 were the fastest to sell out, with the website indicating they were sold out an hour after the sale began, with silver tickets still being available at 0630 hours.

The phenomenon comes hours after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) suspended the ticket sales for the game on Monday, following a breach of security witnessed in Kenya’s match against Morocco at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday, 10 August.

The ticket sales, initially scheduled for Sunday evening, instead opened 24 hours later, moments after CAF had effected a 60 percent stadium capacity restriction at Kasarani Stadium.

CAF’s new measures indicated that only 27,000 fans would attend Kenya’s home matches going forward, with only fans with online tickets allowed entry.

The decision was in response to major safety and security failures witnessed on Sunday, where there was overcrowding and unauthorized entry by fans without tickets, as highlighted in a now-viral video of individuals breaking through one of the facility gates.

In addition, CAF offered a stern warning to Kenya’s Local Organizing Committee (LOC), saying their failure to implement the measures could result in more serious sanctions, including the consideration of alternative venues for future matches involving the host team.
