Safaricom Chapa Dimba National Finals kick off in Kisumu

The national finals for the annual Safaricom Chapa Dimba football tournament kicked off today, Thursday 11th April, 2024 at the Kenyatta Stadium, (Mamboleo) in Kisumu County.

Eight boys teams and eight girls teams will battle it out for the national crown as this year’s edition of the tournament comes to a close following the culmination of the regional competitions.

On the cards, Thursday, are the quarter final battles for both boys and girls as teams seek for their semi final ticket after navigating through gruelingly tough regional competitions around the country.

In the first girls quarter final, Syomunyu Secondary School from Eastern region face off with Western region’s Brenda Girls before Obunga FC from the Nyanza region play against Central region representatives LYSA FC in the boys category quarter final one in a 11:00am kick off.

Across the city at Moi Stadium, Nairobi region’s Dagiretti Mixed will have a date with Wiyeta Girls representing Rift Valley region in the second girls quarter final.
The second quarter final encounter in the boys category at Moi Stadium will see Ebwali Boys from Western region entertain Chuka University from Eastern region for a chance to move to the semi finals.

Coastal region Changamwe Ladies will be up against Plateau Queens from the Nyanza region in a 1:00 pm girls encounter as PASC Langa of Rift Valley face off Slum kids Dandora Young Kings who won at home in the Nairobi City County regional finals.

The last quarter final battles will be pitted between Barcelona Ladies from the Central region and North Eastern’s Wajir Queens. In the last boys encounter, Wajir All Stars from North Eastern will have a date with Bandari Youth representing the Coast region.

At state will be a chance to win Sh.1 million cash prizes and the bragging rights of the national champions title.

The semi final matches will be played at Kenyatta stadium on Friday and Saturday with the finals scheduled to take place on Sunday 14th April at the same venue.
