Resident golfer Eric Mugo, who plays off handicap 24 returned an impressive 38 stableford points to emerge as the overall winner of the ninth leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour at the Vetlab Sports Club.

The tourney, that was graced by over 150 golfers saw handicap 15, Charles Maitho card 37 points to be crowned the overall winner runner-up while Godwin Karuga who plays off handicap 11 clinched the men winner award with 37 points.

Speaking after his victory at the lush course, Mugo noted that: “I have been a member of this amazing club for over 10 years now and an ardent golfer. We had a matchplay coincidentally Safaricom vs KCB within the bigger KCB series, for the large part I was focused on the matchplay. I was not looking at my points and that is how I ended up playing well. I did not have the pressure of thinking about the points. Vetlab is amazing, the fairways are long and the greens well kept.”

Joy Ndonga, handicap 15, floored all her opponents to be crowned the lady winner with 37 points while Mary Karano, handicap 13, closely followed with 36 points to bag the runner-up award.

Hardest hitting Elizabeth Ng’ethe, handicap 25, scooped the best front nine with an excellent 22 points while seasoned golfer Narendra Hirani who plays off handicap 26 returned 21 points in the back nine to clinch the best back nine award.

Steve D’souza (handicap 10) emerged as the senior winner with 34 points, in the junior category, golfer Wahome Mutahi who plays off handicap 23 returned 35 stableford points to claim the award. In the special category, Vijay Budhdev, handicap 36, clinched the award with 39 points.

Eric Kiruja won the longest drive award in the men’s category while KCB’s Senior Relationship Manager Scola Onsonga bagged it in the women’s category. Junaid Manji was nearest to the pin.

The tenth leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour will be held at the luscious Limuru Golf Club on June 15, 2024
