Opposition leader Kalonzo Musyoka has dismissed claims of an alliance between President William Ruto and predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kalonzo said that this was propaganda being peddled by bloggers into making Kenyans think that the two leaders had struck a political handshake.

He said after the both leaders issued conflicting statements on the purpose and resolutions of the meeting and their was no statement from both camps indicating that they had struck a political alliance

“Their camps issued different statements after their meeting but which mostly were centered on national issues and nothing about their political future of forming an alliance ,” said Kalonzo.

The Wiper party leader said it was a mutual meeting of the two leaders where Ruto is free to meet the ex-president at both personal and official levels and should not be misinterpreted to mean that a political deal is in the offing.

“Leaders irrespective political affiliations can meet on issues of national interest but not necessarily to mean that when politicians meet they are cutting political deals,” he said.

Kalonzo made the statement while attending a church service at the AIPCA Gathage Church, Gatundu South, Kiambu County on Sunday, December 15th, 2024.

President William Ruto on Monday, December 9, visited his former boss Uhuru Kenyatta at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu, a visit that has raised eyebrows and speculations among Kenyans,.

Speaking to the congregation, Kalonzo said that the Church should be at forefront of criticising the Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza (KK) regime for abductions and killings of Youth, corruption, the high cost of living and the disastrous Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF) and Social Health Authority (SHA), university funding model which has seen many students not joining the institutions of higher learning due to the confusion and lack of fees.

The ex-Vice President who is the de-facto People’s Loyal Opposition group’s leader was accompanied by former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu, Ndegwa Njiru the constitutional lawyer that represented impeached Deputy President (DP) Rigathi Gachagua during his impeachment trial  Kiambu County Assembly Minority Leader and Ng’enda Ward MCA Joe Kigara, Kiamwangi Ward MCA among others.
